TEACHING STYLE DEVELOPMENT

February 02, 2010

If you think back to all the lecturers / teachers in class, you may be able to identify the "style" or approach that they doing. Maybe you can categorize them in one word, such as "angry", "selfish" or even "primitive" or vice versa, "perfect", it may come into your mind.

Most teachers do not even think about how they came up with the character before the students. Whatever the word may describe your character of their eyes, and not something that arose spontaneously. In all possibilities, it may just happen. Teachers need to consciously consider their teaching style to running a positive direction and develop an effective force. Developing teaching style means more than just a saying and saying into describes a teaching material. To develop a balanced teaching style means you have a lot to think what is good for you and what is best for the students. Do not think that you can not change your teaching style. It's easy to ignore the possibility of change by saying "Ahhh, I'm me and that it was not me, there's nothing I can do about it." Of course, it is possible to change the approach to teaching. Here are some steps to consider when you start defining your teaching style.

  1. Words or what words to use to describe the students now. Do you feel comfortable with what will they say?
  2. Are you being there to help the class or maybe now, it is a way of teaching really good?
  3. Does your style has been observed or known and you want to continue?
  4. Are changes in teaching style may make you enjoy your profession so much better?
  5. What changes is now very important in your teaching style?
  6. If you need assistance, where aid resources come from? For example, if you are having difficulty with discipline, who can help you fix the problem?
  7. Do you have a confidence problem? For example awkward when teaching?
  8. Ask the opinion of the students, what makes a good teacher in their eyes. You can find answers and ideas in your teaching style changed, but do not assume that ( "they do not mean") and not perceptive.
  9. You can make changes gradually. Approach Superman (into the phone booth, and then transformed into a super hero in uniform in few seconds) is not required. Few processes at one time is better.

Once you begin the process of developing or improving teaching style will help you make your work more effective and fun, you can hold the commitments it below:

  1. Be in a position "command", which is responsible, and very confident in the classroom. You are a PROFESSIONAL, after all that is going through.Do not lose patience. Be assertive, maybe, but never lost control. Facing the situation "emotion" at another time or in other places, for example by yelling as loud as in the forest) *.Speaking to the students as if they were humans, not devils predators. A little respect for students and does not stop you to give advice and guidance.Having a sense of humor. Be prepared to laugh even at yourself at the right time.Fair. "Enough" is probably the most expected by students to reflect the performance of a teacher teaching. This is probably the most difficult thing to do. Cultivate. Ask for help from fellow teachers, administrators, and students or lecturers.Be a mentor or acquire qualities of a mentor. Find someone in the faculty who can you trust for good ideas. Setting time) *. Reading books about how time is scheduled to be organized may help.
  2. Try not to bring the problem home. Work, yes, but the problem, no. Finish it before you leave for the day or at least develop a plan to finish tomorrow.
  3. Be prepared. Not necessarily in terms of the Boy Scouts, but has been prepared of all, what do you need to teach before school starts. Are you planning a lesson, make sure all ingredients are in place, and check the VCR before you show that you are worthy of a video showing the students (if you use audio-visual media).
  4. Be a professional capacity as parents and administrators. Consider the interests and needs of others, but remember ... "You are a trained professional". Distinguish between personal and social. Give a little time for yourself. Arrive a little early, came home a little late. Everyone in the work unit knows who's coming in the last minute and came home in minutes more.

Here are some exercises that can help you develop any changes you see and may be required in your teaching style. Choose which might really work for you. If they do not seem reasonable or not meaningful, ignore it. Sometimes the best way is that you find for yourself.

  1. List of words that you have in mind students who might be noted by them to describe your character and style of teaching.
  2. Ranking a teacher who you know in order to obtain the quality of teaching, the respect given by the students, knowledge of subject matter, approval by parents, etc.. You must save this list is very personal, of course, but you may find some time, and useful for you. Incidentally, most of the teachers who made this list of teachers found that the same rank near the top in almost every list.
  3. Make sure you put yourself in the list of numbers.
  4. Sit back and observe a classroom teacher who is widely respected, and taught them how to ihatlah, if either imitate, if not make an anchor for you to stop and think about what should be done.Sit back and watch the class by a teacher you are having trouble. Find out why.

That few of my knowledge about getting our identity as a teacher, you are walking and crossing your path,, fixed on the goal, and to vary the way you drive, do not lose the bow, to reach the goal.
